Walking Toward Better Health



At Burning Tree Dental, we are devoted to promoting health in all areas of life, not just your dental health.  While we know and understand the details of a healthy mouth, we also understand that the systems in our body work together and are all integrally connected.  One of the recent topics we have been discussing is the importance of walking.  We have heard the tales of how walking can be one of the best things to do for your health.  Now we have heard firsthand, the benefits as well.


Dr. Cary LaCouture has a nephew who has had some recent successes with walking more.  He was a 20-something guy who had gained about thirty extra pounds from a sedentary lifestyle.  After trying many other unsuccessful techniques to lose the weight, he turned to a walking desk.  After walking consistently four hours a day, at 2.1 miles per hour, he has lost the thirty pounds and has gained a new outlook on life.


Small changes can make a big impact.  By walking at a low speed for a consistent amount of time, this young man was able to change his life.
