Easy and Healthy Snacks For People On The Go

franktown cosmetic dentistI like to keep up a healthy lifestyle, which heavily relies on healthy eating, but with how busy I am, it’s hard to take the time to prepare healthy snacks and sit down and eat them, and not to mention, I’m no chef, I can’t make masterpieces in the kitchen. Recently I have found some really simple, healthy snacks that I can take and eat on the go, and not to mention, they taste pretty good and give me the energy I need. I usually pack two snacks each day, one for the morning and one for the afternoon, how many is up to you, but just make sure you’re not snacking too much.

First off, if you’re going to become an on the go snacker, you’ll learn that either Ziploc bags or tupperware are going to be your best friend, which one depends on if you like to recycle or not. So when you’re at the grocery store, make sure to stock up on either of those before you stock up on these healthy protein-packed snacks.

Cheese Sticks

With 6 to 8 grams of protein per stick, this savory snack is small, sealed, and doesn’t need to be kept cold, so it can easily be thrown in a purse or suit pocket and will satisfy those afternoon cravings and give you a little burst of afternoon energy.

Dried Fruit

Unlike fruit that needs to be refrigerated, dried fruit can be bagged and stored in a bag, pocket or desk. Dried fruits that have the most protein are apricots, raisins, dates, and prunes.

Fruit

If you have access to a refrigerator at work, regular fruit, as opposed to dry fruit, is a sweet and healthy choice that’s perfect for a morning or afternoon snack. For energy and hunger satisfying needs,keep to the higher protein fruits like raspberries, peaches, bananas, cantaloupe and avocados.

Peanut Butter Packs

Everybody knows peanut butter is an excellent source of protein, and paired with a carb such as a whole grain tortilla, rice cake,or low sodium pretzels can be the perfect healthy snack. You should be able to find to-go packs of peanut butter at your local grocery store and the carb you choose to pair with it is up to you depending on your taste preference and daily carb intake (if applicable). With no need for refrigeration, this is a perfect snack to pack for later.

Nuts

One of my personal favorites, because of their high levels of protein, nuts are perfect for putting in a bag and getting out the door in the mornings. Another great thing about nuts is that since they are something you can eat multiple of, as opposed to a cheese stick or something, they take longer to eat, which extends the duration of your eating time, tricking your body into thinking you ate more.

Veggies – Broccoli

If you have the acquired taste for raw broccoli, then you have just found yourself a great afternoon on the go snack. With no dipping sauce needed, the high in protein veggie is easy to transport and so good for you.

Protein Bars

What is easier than bringing along a protein bar with you to work or whatever festivities your day holds. With no preparation needed and individual wrappers, this is a perfect grab and go treat. They are going to be on the more expensive end of the snack spectrum, but this is the snack that is going to provide the most protein for you and is perfect for providing you energy whenever you need it throughout the day.

Now that you have some ideas for some no-prep needed, tasty, on the go snacks, there’s no excuse for that afternoon bag of potato chips. You’ll start to notice after a few days of healthy snacking that you’ll be able to make it the whole day with clean energy.
